ARE YOU READY!?! (Read me- I’m written by Rogue, not an AI. Expect typos and oversights, and silly little mistakes of an entirely different flavor.)

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, CrüxShadows fans and supporters of all ages, it is my proud privilege to unveil for you today a BRAND NEW single for 2025!
I am sooooo EXCITED and I hope you will LOVE this new track! Me… I absolutely adore it— but of course I am slightly biased in that I wrote the song… still, I feel I am being completely objective and unflinchingly honest when I express to you that this track is really, really, really, really, really, REALLY good. It’s danceable, catchy, and filled with plenty of what CXS fans might hope for, or even expect… BUT it also has its own inertia, and something oddly distinctive and unique— something dark and playful and filled with adventure in its anthemic, synth driven DNA.

You see, for better than a decade I have been collaborating with comic book author and playwright Brent Lengel, and we are writing an epic story about a girl named Reddy and her trip into the afterworld, a world that is itself largely based upon many of the elements found within and throughout Cruxshadows’ lyrical lore! It only makes sense that the (first) book, as it nears completion (relatively speaking, don’t rush me!), would inspire a song itself. We have big plans for the book (books?) as it follows a young, beautiful raven haired girl on a series of bizarre adventures on the other side— in the appropriately named land of AFTERALL— like The Wizard of Oz, just with lots of gods and monsters and dead people and elements of humanity snatched from anywhere in time. Pretty cool right?? (shhhhh… There might even [possibly/maybe] be more AFTERALL media like last year’s short AFTERALL :INTO THE VOID in planning, or maybe a chapter by chapter podcast read by someone “close to the project” that could be in development! Purely wild speculation of course!)

They’ll be more on Afterall soon… VERY SOON (actually)… very VERY soon… and that is why I chose to write the first of what ‘may’ become several songs about Reddy and her otherworldly adventures right now! Stuff is happening! A lot will of course depend on how people react…

The song is a little under 5 minutes in length and the cover art is largely done by my daughter, Anmi. It features a character from the book named “GO”, that happens to be a haunted stuffed pink rabbit— ok look, it makes sense in the book, don’t judge! I had a cover I was working on myself, but Anmi’s “Go” was just too good not to use, and so my daughter has thus usurped me this round and added “cover artist” to her growing list of achievements. Can you tell I’m proud?

“But what is the song called???” —you might ask—

ME: Oh, I am so glad that you asked… that helps me with my segue…

The song is titled “A Dream Before Dying”. You can read the lyrics below as you listen to the song, garnering precious clues as to what’s going on in the book, OR you can just download it and listen to what amounts to a damn good track… or better yet you could take it to your local DJ and force all your friends to dance to it! That would be Awesome! Do that…

The song is available in several formats and the track is on our website as DONATION-WARE, so “PAY WHAT YOU WANT” or “PAY WHAT ITS WORTH”… hmmm… Lets go with “PAY WHAT YOU WANT’ because I think this one is worth A WHOLE LOT and we don’t want to set the fee too high!!
